Everyone has someone who has either directly, or indirectly, impacted their life by speaking what was believed to be the truth at the time by the listener. Who is in your top ten list?
My life has been permanently altered by those who have delivered some of the wisest and most influential words of all time, so much so that now I too have become an influential public speaker.
To this point, whether you agree or not, whether you like them or not, these are some of the best speakers in the US in my humble opinion. There is no order of favoritism, even though this is a numbered list.
Number 1: Jim Rohn
I’ve said it 100 times…I’d love to be the female version of Mr. Rohn. This would mean of course that I need to be a world traveler and sell multi-millions to catch up… but if you’ve never heard his wisdom it’s a MUST. (website)
Number 2: Zig Ziglar
Love flows through this man, particularly towards his family, and his wife the “red-head”, but his style and sense of humor are unmatched by most. (website)
Number 3: Alex Mandossian
I didn’t take kindly to Alex at first, in fact, I hung up on his first teleseminar. I’m sure he won’t appreciate me saying that, but it has a good ending or he wouldn’t be in my list. A friend told me that if there is something you don’t want to hear then maybe its something you must hear. I found that interesting so I gave him another try by being on his next call. I was so glad I did. Alex taught me to successfully use the telephone as a method of reaching people doing tele-seminars and he’s one of the best in his field, if not the best. So the next time you want to hang up on someone ask yourself if its something you must hear. (website)
Number 4: Mother Theresa
Likely the richest person who ever lived in terms of appreciation, showing compassion, influential and yes, even money. Think about this; if she ever needed something she picked up the phone and asked for it. (website)
Number 5: Mahatma Ghandi
So he’s not from the U.S. but…no one else in history showed more self-control when faced with adversity than he did in my opinion, and he never gave up. (website)
Number 6: Oprah
Although I didn’t watch her program very often I know she is very open minded, unafraid to show up and gives more than most. Values anyone would do well to skillfully obtain. (website)
Number 7: Scott Martineau
I interviewed Scott on my radio show but had heard him for years on other shows. He is a very powerful speaker who has wisdom and heart. He’s fabulous. (website)
Number 8: Jeff Herring
Jeff is an expert in writing articles and he knows his stuff. He was my first article writing mentor who taught me to give my words a voice and he can teach you too. (website)
Number 9: John Regier
Again you might be scratching your head. John is not the best speaker I’ve ever heard (I mean that with all due respect), but its when you listen with your heart to what he says that you hear and see beyond the man. I guess that goes without saying for any great words of wisdom. Life altering for anyone wanting a spiritual connection. (website)
Number 10: Les Brown
Wow. That sums up how I feel about him. Les Brown is a dynamic and powerful speaker…filled with joy and just as human as the next guy. Profound stories. Love his website!
So that is my top ten list and I’m listing their sites to show my gratitude to how they have impacted my life. I am profoundly moved by the examples of these great leaders, though each as human as you and I are. To thank them (those who are living anyhow) may not be necessary, although if I could it would be to say that the best thing about a great leader is that they are honorable even when no other human is watching. That’s the kind of leader I strive to be because of these examples.
I’m glad you came here to read this post and hopefully it has you inspired to think about who the top 10 influential people are in your life. Or perhaps you are on someone else’s list without even knowing it.
As Jim Rohn says, “A good objective of leadership is to help those who are doing poorly to do well, and to help those who are doing well to do even better.”
