Where does your inspiration come from? Is there someone or some thing specific that inspired you? Do you have an inspirational quote you try to live by?
Here is one of my earliest inspirations. My Uncle Bernie, with his brother Leo. They are my father’s brothers and very musically gifted. Aside from being part of a rather Jia-normous musical family, my uncle Bernie is also a great story teller.
When I was young I remember not wanting to leave the room, because I was so concerned I’d miss out on one of Uncle Bernie’s story’s. He inspired me as I saw people riveted to their chairs waiting for either the punch line or the scary ending. It didn’t matter to me really, I just knew there must have been something magical about him or people wouldn’t feel the way I did about listening to him.
Now some people probably have a hard time with Uncle Bernie’s stories, in the same manner they’d have a difficult time if they’re shoe came untied unexpectedly. We’re not going to enjoy everyone in the same way all the time. I’m certain he has his annoying qualities like the rest of us, just ask my Aunt Pauline if you’re not convinced…but what took a 6 or 7-year-old girl to notice how people were riveted to their seats to listen to a single man was powerful. It often isn’t in what we say that keeps someone riveted as much as it is the power of how its delivered that makes the difference.
Thank you Uncle Bernie, you were one of my very first inspirations.
